Zoya

‘Zoya’ was drawn way back in April 2009 during a vacation. She was hidden deep inside a file and I thought I should name her and give her some fame.
I usually colour the whole skin but in this I tried only the outlining only because I was running out of tan colour of my copic markers. I love the way she has come up and her smoky eyes, which gives depth into her beauty.
Its one of my earliest illustrations after graduating and I regret those few years I spent without drawing and trying to find a basic commercial way of living. I thank god and my lucky stars for bringing me back into the same territory where I feel eternally satisfied and content with what I do…Illustration!

Enjoy my 'Chloe'

Bridal Illustration - Rozanne Diasz

I did another illustration for a beautiful lady, who is also a former Miss Sri Lanka whose wedding was one of the biggest functions of 2010.

she chose a Greek theme for her wedding and she looked like a grecian goddess in her bridal which was designed by Michael Wijesuriya.

I used watercolor and pencils to do this illustration and i love the way the face came out. it looks so pretty. here's my version of Rozanne Diasz!
Currently Rozanne does Choreography, Runs a magazine and her own modeling school.http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=116295628383254&ref=ts

Yesterday I came across another great illustrator. She is Brittany Fuson.
I was going through some google images for fashion illustration and I saw her beautiful and chic girls and checked her website! hollla!!
It was absolutely breathtaking and utterly inspiring. I was having a bad day with all the pressure of building a career and going up on the career ladder and all that jazz, but all what I want to do is draw and Brittany’s venture just boost my energy and gave me strength to stick to what i chose to do.
She has marvellous items in her product list and I so love the chic fashion of her girls. Below are some of her designs and you can check out her blog at http://brittanyfuson.blogspot.com/ and her website http://www.brittanyfuson.com/.

Bridal Illustration 01

This was an illustration done back in 2009 of my dearest friend, Masha who got married after a 13 year love affair! she was a stunning bride on the evening of 5th Dec 2009 and i drew this for her.

I used water colors and Rembrant color pencils to do the highlights with a touch of pearl paint to get the shimmering effect on her dress and some glitter to show the embroidery.

The dress was designed by Poornima Abeyrathne, a well known Bridal Designer in Colombo and her Make-up and hair was done by Ramani Fernando, another prominent figure in the beauty industry of Sri Lanka.
This is the Home-coming saree. In sri Lanka this outfit is a Traditional Costume which is called "osariya" and a bride wears a Red osariya when she returns to her husband's house after the honey-moon. the below saree was worn by the same bride, on her home coming function and she wanted both the outfits illustrated for she loves them both equally.

Renaldo Barnette

One of my all time favourite illustrators is Renaldo Barnett whom I got to know, while going through the blog of Brook Hagel, the lady who inspired me to follow my passion in fashion illustration.
Renaldo Barnett is a visiting lecturer at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology, NY), and has worked for Tuleh, Anne Klein, Kai Milla, Ralph Lauren, and Badgley Mischka.
I love to look at his work, and i can spend hours gazing at them. They are so effortlessly drawn and the details are mesmerizing. I wish I had him as a lecturer but I bet he has never even heard about my little island Sri Lanka! He’s one of the must meet people in my list if I ever go to NY and I wish and pray I will get that chance one fine day.
Also I was going through some of my projects I did back in college and I found some inspirational sketches I used then and they were Barnette’s! I didn’t know then and I remember going ga ga over those sketches! I even tried to adapt his style… and I’m so glad I read brook’s blog and ultimately finding out who Renaldo Barnette is!
Here are some of his beautiful sketches.Oh and I’m elated to have him on my Facebook profile! Yey!! check out his website http://www.renaldobarnette.com/
